Lewis joined Blake-Turner LLP in 2009 as a consultant and became a partner in 2013. Lewis’s field of expertise is construction law. He was trained as a litigator and has had an extensive caseload in the High Court, including cases before the Court of Appeal. In addition he has conducted a large number of adjudications and mediations where he represents his clients in person. Lewis has an extensive knowledge of all forms of dispute resolution and has advised on disputes in the Middle East and the Far East, where he also conducted an arbitration.
In terms of non-contentious work, Lewis has advised on most forms of construction procurement, including the specialist area of term maintenance contracts. He is often called upon to advise on pre-contract negotiations and as projects develop spends much of his time assisting with troubleshooting problems to ensure contracts conclude successfully.
Lewis has a broad client case comprising of developers, contractors, subcontractors, professional consultants and private clients. Lewis also represents a number of Insolvency Practitioners and has a very strong knowledge of addressing construction issues in the insolvency industry.
Lewis read Classics at Cambridge before studying law as a graduate there. He trained at a specialist practice in Mayfair, qualifying in 1995. 18 months later he then joined one of the leading property practices in the country, before moving in 2000 to Speechly Bircham, where he was made a partner in 2004.
In 2016 Lewis obtained a Diploma in Adjudication from the RICS to add to the MSc in Construction, Law and Arbitration which he obtained from Kings College, London in 1998.
